The seven beliefs
People follow the hype, the trend and whichever famous face is behind a launch. Billy Teoh says you still have to come back to the basics. Most people have six. He has seven.
The seven beliefs in order
The company
A stable company with a vision and mission that match your own values. If the values don't coincide, nothing built on top of them will hold.
The product
Billy is a product person. He wants something consumable and repeatable, replenished monthly, with testimonials that touch people's hearts. Not something bought once and forgotten for fifteen years.
The plan
It does not have to make anyone rich. It has to reward someone who works hard with free or discounted product, and give a builder enough to decide for themselves whether to leave their job.
The system
Non-negotiable. Without a system you like, you might make a living, but you will not build a big business.
The leadership
Also non-negotiable, and inseparable from the system. If you don't respect the leaders, you can't follow them far.
Yourself
If you don't believe in yourself, Billy says even God can't help you. Belief means continuing to grow, with a buddy, a coach and a mentor.
Probability
The seventh belief. However badly you present, some people will join. However well you present, some never will. Certain people are waiting for someone else; certain people are waiting for you. It is timing and faith, and it works whether you are good or bad on the day. Being better still helps.
Why people quit, and why people last
胜者为王. Billy reads it not as "the winner is king" but as "the one left standing is king". The person who stays longest wins.
Staying is not doing nothing. You can stay because of your mindset, your beliefs and your values. People quit when the standard for whether they are doing well is set by someone else: another person's speed, bonus or group size. You can only compare yourself with yourself. Have your own beliefs, your own standard and your own pace.
The coldest water
New builders talk first to the people they love most, and those are the coldest rejections they will ever receive. Colder than liquid nitrogen, in Billy's phrase. His rule: the opinion of someone who has never done the business does not count. If you want a true reading, ask someone who has succeeded in the industry. Someone who failed at it will kill your business faster than poison.
Know what you don't know
Billy's confidence comes from knowing what he knows and what he doesn't, and being willing to learn the rest from people who have succeeded. If you never try anything new, you get the same pattern and the same salary. New income needs new experience.
Advice for someone starting today
Fresh out of university
Learn to deal with people. Start with Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People, the book Billy started with himself.
Already in business, or burned by it
Treat this as something new that needs a change of concept. The first change is how income is generated and how an organisation is built. Nobody makes money for you. You help people fulfil their dreams, they earn for themselves, and you receive a small share of many transactions. Accept that arithmetic and the exponential side of it becomes possible.
The first question Billy asks a new member
If money were not a problem, what would your goals and dreams be, for yourself, your family, your community? Write them all down. Most people discover their wishes contradict each other, which means they didn't know what they wanted. Once the dream is clear and consistent, every step and every challenge becomes worth it. The inviting and presenting skills are basic; the direction is everything.
Work with a buddy, a coach and a mentor
Follow the seven beliefs, pick the right system and leadership, believe in yourself, and never build alone. This is what ACES Worldwide is designed to provide.
You don't wish things were easier. You wish you were better.

Questions about the seven beliefs
What are Billy Teoh's seven beliefs?
The company, the product, the plan, the system, the leadership, yourself, and probability. Most network marketers check the first six. Billy adds the seventh: believing that probability is always at work, so you keep going regardless of a single result.
What separates people who succeed from people who quit?
Billy sums it up in four Chinese characters, 胜者为王: the one who is still standing wins. People quit when they let someone else's speed, bonus or group size set their standard. People who last set their own beliefs, their own standard and their own pace.
What books does Billy Teoh recommend for beginners?
He started with Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People and still recommends it as the first book for anyone new to dealing with people.
